Senzeni is an independent civic accountability platform. We help residents access verified public service contact information, understand reporting channels, and share their experiences of public service delivery.

We are committed to being transparent about what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

POPIA Compliance

Senzeni processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). We collect only the information necessary to operate the platform, improve our services, and facilitate the routing of reports where applicable.

Information We Collect

When you share information with Senzeni, we may collect:

  • The category of issue or feedback.
  • The province, municipality, or location selected.
  • The title and description you provide.
  • Your first name, last name, email address, and phone number if you choose to provide them.

Providing personal information is optional unless explicitly required for a specific feature.

How We Use Information

Information submitted to Senzeni may be used to:

  • Understand service delivery challenges affecting communities.
  • Identify recurring issues and trends.
  • Improve the accuracy and usefulness of the platform.
  • Produce anonymised and aggregated insights to better understand public service delivery trends and improve transparency.
  • Respond to enquiries you send directly to Senzeni.

Senzeni is not an official government reporting channel and does not guarantee that information submitted to the platform will be acted upon by any government department. Residents should always use the appropriate official government channels when lodging service delivery complaints, applications, or requests.

Where a user requests it, Senzeni may use the information provided to assist in routing a report to the relevant government department or public institution using verified contact information.

Public Dashboard and Published Information

Where submissions are displayed publicly, personal information is removed before publication. We may publish:

  • Issue category.
  • General location information.
  • Submission title or summary.
  • Aggregated statistics and trends.

We do not publish personal contact information, including names, email addresses, or phone numbers, without your explicit consent.

Cookies and Analytics

Senzeni uses cookies and similar technologies to improve the functionality, security, and performance of the Platform.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Platform, such as which pages are visited and how users interact with the site. This information helps us improve the user experience and does not identify individual users.

Data Storage

Senzeni stores information using reputable third-party cloud service providers to support platform operations, security, and backups.
